Frequently asked questions

What is a nation card?

As soon as you have completed your membership in a student union or nation, you will receive your membership card in the “Mecenat” app.

By showing your nation card, you will gain access to the special member benefits offered by the nations and student unions.

Unfortunately you are no longer able to order plastic (pysical) cards. Contact your nation for solutions if you need a physical card.

Not a member of a nation and/or student union? Become a member here.

How can I, as a member of a student union or student nation, create an account on Mecenat?

Your account is linked to your social security number, and if you are an active student, you can easily create an account via their website or via the “Mecenat” app.

How can I, as a member of a student union but no longer a student, create an account on Mecenat?

Your account is linked to your social security number, and if you are an alumni member, you can easily create an account via their alumni website.

Then download the “Mecenat” app and log in.

Contact your nation or student union directly and they will help you there.

Contact details can be found on their websites.

How do I get the SJ and SL logos on my nation card?

All students and doctoral students, regardless of their pace of study, are eligible for discounts with SJ. Travel discounts with SL/UL are given to students with a study load of at least 75%. This means that you must be a full-time program student or registered for independent courses totaling at least 22.5 credits per semester. Doctoral students must have a registered activity level of at least 75% for the previous or current semester.

NOTE
For travel with SL/UL, no other study certificate is required other than the digital Mecenat card, together with photo ID. If you do not yet have the SL logo on your card, do not purchase a student ticket, as you may be fined.
