By becoming a member of a student union, you contribute to strengthening and developing the union's work to improve the university's education, courses, and work environment.

Student unions exist at both the departmental and faculty levels, as well as centrally within the university. Their mission is to make a concrete difference for students by engaging in issues related to the quality of education, the study environment, and other factors that affect students' time at university.

Through your membership, you have the opportunity to help shape and improve both your own and your fellow students' time at university, while gaining access to a network of students who share your commitment.

Membership in a nation

The nations in Uppsala are the vibrant hub of student life and offer a variety of activities and opportunities for all students.

Here you can access housing, scholarships, club activities, cultural activities, pubs, associations, and sports — all created and run by students for students.

Each nation has its own unique profile, but membership gives you access to all thirteen nations and a multifaceted student world. This means a place where tradition meets innovation, and where you can get involved in everything from social events and cultural projects to sports and study support.

Membership opens the door to a community where you can both forge new friendships and develop in several areas during your studies.

How do I become a member of a nation?

To join a nation as a new student in Uppsala, you must be admitted to one of Uppsala's universities.

When you become a member for the first time, you must visit the nation to confirm that you are a student. We therefore recommend that you visit the nations during their registration periods instead of becoming a member online.
Once there, you will receive full membership and, in many cases, a goodie bag!

Please note that some nations only allow registration on site.
